personalise your wardrobe
Instead of discarding garments that feel worn, stained, or outdated, you’ll bring one piece you’d normally toss and reimagine it using low-waste techniques like:
• Slow stitching
• Appliqué
• Thread painting
• Hand dyeing
Because the most sustainable garment is the one you already have.
You’ll be guided to experiment at your own pace in a relaxed, supportive space — layering texture, colour, and detail in a way that feels personal and playful.
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a transformed garment, ready to be worn and loved again.
Transformation over disposal. Creativity over consumption.
Transform your tablecloth
Give a vintage tablecloth a second life by transforming it into a short-sleeved top you’ll actually want to wear.
In this hands-on sewing class, you’ll learn how to cut, construct, and embellish a garment using reclaimed textiles. Working with both a sewing machine and an overlocker, you’ll create the structure of your top, then add expressive detail through appliqué and hand embroidery.
Participants are welcome to bring their own vintage tablecloth, or you can purchase one from the teacher on the day if you don’t already have something suitable.
The focus of this class is on transformation, creativity, and mindful making — not perfection. You’ll be encouraged to work at your own pace, explore the character of your fabric, and make design choices that feel personal.
Monthly mending
Once a month you can join me at the RePlace to learn a new mending skill and mend your clothes. Please bring along at least a couple of items to repair if you have them otherwise I will teach you the basics of mending via hand and/or sewing machine and overlocker.
These sessions are friendly and everyone works at their own pace and are suitable for beginners right through to people who know how to mend but want access to a sewing machine and/or overlocker.
